9u Wins USSSA Open States

The Bulldogs opened pool play on Friday with a 6-5 victory over the Novi Heat Black.    In the second game the Bulldogs bats got very hot in a 22-4 victory over the Oakland Cyclones.   On Saturday the Bulldogs faced the Anchor Bay Angels in a game that would decide the #1 seed and a bye.   The Angels  held the lead late before the Bulldogs rallied with 3 runs to tie the game at 5 in the 6th inning.  But, the Angels managed to score a walk off win in the bottom of the 6th.  This gave the Angels the 1 seed and the Bulldogs had to settle for the 4 seed and would need 3 victories on Sunday to win the title.

The Bulldogs opened bracket play against the East MI Muskies team.  The Bulldogs started strong and jumped out to an early lead and maintained that lead for an eventual 10-1 victory.  The Bulldogs then faced the Angels again in the semi finals.  Once again the Bulldogs started strong and had a 5-0 lead before the Angels rallied back with 4 in the bottom the 4th and 1 more in the bottom of the 5th to tie the game.   But, the Bulldogs responded with a 2 run homer in the top of the 6th and shut the Angels down in the bottom half for the victory.

The Bulldogs faced the Detroit Bees in the championship game.   The Bees had the 2 seed and defeated the Novi Hear in the semi-final round.   The Bulldogs continued the hot start with 3 in the top of the first but the Bees came right back with 2 in the bottom half.  This time though the Bulldogs continued to score throughout the game while keeping the Bees from scoring despite several runners getting into scoring position.  The Bulldogs eventually built a 10-2 lead before the Bees added 3 late runs to make the final score Bulldogs 10 and the Bees 5.
